Dry January at Karpatská Perla – when wine, grape juice, and experience make perfect sense

January is often a time when many people take a break from alcohol and give their body and mind a New Year’s reset. At Karpatská Perla, we see it as an opportunity to show that even a “dry” month can be full of flavour and meaning. That’s why we’ve prepared an offer that respects your choices while bringing honest alternatives – for wine lovers as well as those who prefer non-alcoholic options.

BOBULO – Grape juice without compromise

If you're avoiding alcohol this January but don’t want to give up the pleasure of pouring a flavorful drink, we have an alternative that will satisfy both your taste and your conscience. BOBULO grape juice is 100% organic and pressed from fresh grapes right in our winery. It is gently pasteurized, free of preservatives or additives. The result is the pure, natural sweetness of grapes in every sip.

We offer two versions of this beautifully rich grape juice: a white variety made from Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Blanc grapes, and a rosé version made from dark-skinned André and Blaufränkisch grapes. BOBULO proves that Dry January doesn’t have to be dry in taste.

Wine of the Month: “Grüner Veltliner 2024 from the Noviny Vineyard”

For those who prefer wine – particularly a high-quality dry one – to start the new year, we have selected Grüner Veltliner 2024 from our Noviny vineyard as our Wine of the Month. This over 40-year-old vineyard in Modra is crowned by a beautiful cherry tree planted more than a century ago by Laco Šebo’s great-grandmother. A place steeped in tradition, family history, and deep respect for the land – all of which are reflected in the unique character of this wine.

The wine has a golden-yellow colour and a rich fruit-herbal bouquet with notes of citrus, pineapple, and white pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, with a long, spicy-mineral finish. Grüner Veltliner 2024 was crafted through spontaneous fermentation and matured for four months on fine lees using the sur lie method in oak barrels.

This wine is certified organic, vegan, and low in histamines. Throughout January, you can purchase it with a special 12% discount at our wine shop in Šenkvice or via our ONLINE STORE.

Dry Wine Tasting – January 23

We also invite you to a cozy wine tasting hosted by Laco Šebo. It will take place on January 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM directly at Karpatská Perla. Throughout the evening, you’ll taste seven wines – fresh, dry, and perfectly suited for a calm winter evening. Light refreshments will also be provided to complete the atmosphere.

The tasting lineup includes our Grüner Veltliner 2024 from the Noviny vineyard, along with Pinot Blanc 2024, Blaufränkisch 2024 rosé, Moravian Muscat 2025, Blaufränkisch 2021, Pinot Noir 2021 and Aurelius 2019. And for those who don’t drink alcohol, our delightful BOBULO grape juice will be available as well.

The tasting fee is 12 EUR, and no prior registration is required – simply come to the winery on January 23 at 5 PM.

At Karpatská Perla, we believe Dry January isn’t about restrictions, but about conscious choices. Whether you choose a glass of honest, handcrafted wine or the pure taste of fresh grape juice, you’ll be warmly welcomed in the Perla.
