Grüner Veltliner from Noviny Through the Years

Every vineyard has its own story. Noviny is a place that has shaped the character of our Grüner Veltliner for decades, while giving us the opportunity to observe how a single wine, grape variety and vineyard evolve over time.

That is why we have decided to dedicate an entire evening to this exceptional vineyard and taste Grüner Veltliner from Noviny in a way that is rarely possible – across different vintages.

On Friday, 23 October 2026, we invite you to KARPATSKÁ PERLA for a vertical tasting of Grüner Veltliner, hosted by Laco Šebo.

The Noviny Vineyard and Its Story

The Noviny vineyard is located between Modra and Šenkvice, on a southwest-facing slope. We grow Grüner Veltliner on approximately four hectares of vines planted back in the 1980s.

Noviny lies at an interesting geological transition between the granite soils of the Little Carpathians and loess deposits. The soil combines weathered granite, quartz, clay and limestone, with loamy characteristics in certain areas. This distinctive terroir contributes to the typical expression of wines from Noviny – their fruitiness, spiciness and mineral character.

An inseparable part of the vineyard is a cherry tree more than a hundred years old, planted by Laco Šebo's great-grandmother. It has stood alongside the vines for generations and has become a natural symbol of the vineyard – a reminder of continuity, tradition and the care devoted to a place that existed long before us.

Letting the Vineyard Speak Through the Wine

Noviny was also the first of our vineyards where we began moving towards more environmentally friendly cultivation. Since 2014, we have gradually transformed our vineyard practices, seeking the gentlest possible approach to both the soil and the vines.

Since 2019, we have been producing our Grüner Veltliner from Noviny using spontaneous fermentation, without adding selected commercial yeast cultures. Our aim is to allow the vineyard, the vintage and the natural character of the grapes to express themselves as authentically as possible.

What we have always loved about Grüner Veltliner from Noviny is its distinctive spiciness, rich fruit flavours and delicate hints of tropical fruit. The wine also has excellent ageing potential, which is why we enjoy revisiting older vintages and discovering how they develop over time.

Seven Wines, One Vineyard, Different Vintages

One of the most fascinating aspects of a vertical tasting is discovering what remains constant and what changes over the years. One vineyard, one grape variety, yet each vintage tells a different story – shaped by the weather, grape ripeness and the way the wine gradually evolves in the bottle.

During the evening, we will taste seven Grüner Veltliner wines from this vineyard:

The tasting will be guided by Laco Šebo, who knows these vintages not only from barrels and bottles, but above all from the vineyard itself. Light refreshments will also be served alongside the wines.

Grüner Veltliner Vertical Tasting

The ticket price is €26 (including VAT) and includes seven Grüner Veltliner wine samples, light refreshments, and a relaxed atmosphere in which to discover the unique character of each vintage.

Places are limited. Depending on the number of tickets sold, the tasting will take place either in the wine shop or in the tasting room at KARPATSKÁ PERLA.

Tickets are available online through our e-shop or in person at our wine shop.
