The gold medal was achieved by our ice wine Zweigeltrebe 2012, that is the first rosé ice wine we have ever made. After a longer ageing it is now in an ideal condition. The wine remindes of dry figues on the nose and its taste is full of strawberries and strawberry compote. It will be suitable for a long ageing in the bottle. Six of our wines were awarded by a silver medal: Welsh Riesling 2014, Pinot Blanc/Pinot Noir/Chardonnay 2014, JAGNET Moravian Muscat 2014, Rhein Riesling 2013, berry selection, Rhein Riesling 2013, grape selection and 4 ELEMENTS 2011 red. 11000 wines from 1650 wine producers competed here this year. Mr. Masaya Suzuki, the owner of Misuzu company personaly handed over Diamond trophy, that we received for our VARIETO Blaufränkisch 2012 on Sakura Award 2015 international wine competition. We are greatfull for the visit of our chinese importers, who visited us for the very first time. We greatly value Mr. Suzuki´s effort to present Slovak wines in Japan and China and we hope, that this great success on Sakura Award will increase the awareness of Slovak wines in the far east countries. In the first round of Prague Wine Trophy we achieved two Prague Regional Champion titles. Our VARIETO Blaufränkisch 2012 had the highest score among all Slovak Blaufränkisch and even achieved gold medal. In the cathegory of foreign white cuvée our 4 ELEMENTS 2013 white was the most succesfull one and was also rewarded with gold medal. It is a great success for us, because we entered the wine competition only with two samples. We are also pleased for the gold medal awarded Cuveé Devín, that we made in the co-operation with recognized enologist Edita Ďurčová. In the first round of the competition the wines were evaluated in eight cathegories: Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Malbec, Tempranillo, Blaufränkisch, Barbera, sparkling wine and white cuvée. The Prague Wine Trophy is the largest international wine competition in the Czech Republic with more then 1400 wines evaluated. It is ogranized by Víno Revue magazine. The system of wine evaluation is different from other wine competitions. The tasters have more time for evaluation and they can return to each sample during the tasting, so they can compare every sample. The evaluation goes down in commissions but firsly the wine tasters have the possibility to evaluate the wines on their own and afterwards they can discuss their results with other members of commission.
